The FEAT Project Building and Light Construction Network

Are you a female sole trader or female run small business working in the building or light construction sector? If so, this network could be for you.

Join us on the 14th July 2009 - 6pm at The Whitechapel Art Gallery Cafe/Bar

FEAT project believes it will be easier for women tradeswomen to access larger contracts and longer-term work opportunities if they work together as a group or consortium. As managers of the network, over the last year we have been looking at the possible opportunities for joint working between tradeswomen and how that joint working might be marketed and managed.

By joining together tradeswomen can benefit from:

  • Joint marketing.
  • Establishing links with larger suppliers and contractors.
  • Creating capacity to take on larger, longer-term contracts.
  • Opening up access to Olympics and post Olympics opportunities
  • Creating opportunities for joint buying
  • Access to a tool bank and the possibility of company vehicles.
  • Creating the ability to provide a more comprehensive package of services e.g. plumbing, plastering and carpentry
  • .Additional support with business advice, book-keeping, tax, benefits, childcare, training etc.
  • Access to virtual business locations in the Olympics borough.
  • Improved links to the corporate sector and big business.

WE NOW HAVE AN OPPORTUNITY!

We are now working in partnership with a BAME led construction company who have successfully won a decent homes contract in Hackney and are working with FEAT to put together a team trades-women to do site work on this contract.

So we are looking for:-

Female carpenters, painters and decorators, designers, plasterers, painters, electricians, plumbers, locksmiths, cabinet makers, bricklayers, glassiers, landscape gardeners, roofers, people with heritage (traditional craft) skills etc WITH CSCS CARDS!!

If you are qualified in any of the areas above but do not have a CSCS Card then we at Urban Inclusion are prepared to pay for up to ten women to complete the training, and get a CSCS Card, as long as they can commit to working with the network for a year. If you would like to be part of this network please register above or if you would like further information please contact Urban Inclusion offices on 020 7375 2222 or email jennifer@urbaninclusion.co.uk
